Pierre’s A.A.S.I.
Rockport MA. Artist Workshops

Pierre’s Artist Holiday Workshops
A Painting Holiday on Cape Ann offers you the chance to set up your
easel where Winslow Homer stood, to study the surf as Frederick Waugh
did, and to capture your own impressions of the varied beauty that
continues to bring artists to our rocky coast and peaceful marshes.
The artists that conduct these workshops have been in the art field
all their lives, and like my parents before me who started the Assorted
Artists of Seaward Inn workshops in 1979, it seemed only natural to
combine the Seaward Inn's hospitality with those artists, to give
you five friendly days of work and pleasure.
We want to stress “pleasure”, although enough serious
instruction will be provided to give you a virtuous feeling of time
well spent. While you are “working”, enjoy the contrasts
of the delicate touch of the salt spray on your face and the firm
strength of granite ledge at your feet. Don’t miss the fragrance
of the breeze blowing over those wild roses!
Moreover, make the most of your hours at the Seaward Inn, where guests
have been returning year after year since 1945. These guests, many
of whom have become friends over time, agree with our artists, that
the Seaward Inn offers comfort, good food and the friendly atmosphere
that a group of painters will enjoy.

Visitors may want to take a box lunch and spend a day on Thacher’s
Island, where the famous Twin Lights, rocky shoreline and panoramic
ocean view will inspire artists of all abilities. Mill Pond, Granite
Pier Flat Ledge Quarry, Halibut Point State Park and, of course, the
famous Motif #1, are just a few more of the usual and unusual sites
which are sure to motivate a student's creativity. However, one need
go no further than the unspoiled charm of the Seaward Inn. Our beautiful
grounds overlooking spectacular ocean views at the outermost tip of
Cape Ann, provide a multitude of artistic opportunity. Even a Nor’easter
can add to one’s delight when viewed (and painted) from our
indoor garden terrace. Visits to the Paper House, Rockport Art Association,
local galleries and shops on Rockport’s famous Bearskin Neck,
will only add to a most memorable experience.
