MUSIC * NORTH OF BOSTON * WICKED PICKERS * SEPTEMBER 13TH.*

The Wicked Pickers, http://www.wickedpickers.com/, have an original and refreshing
sound that explores the
boundary between jazz and acoustic music. The material consists of both
standards and original compositions, and crosses from jazz to swing with
flavors of folk and bluegrass mixed in.
"The Wicked Pickers present a wonderfully eclectic blend of acoustic jazz, swing and folk with bluegrass instrumentation; a joyful sound reminiscent of the work of Darol Angor's Montreaux Group."
- Carol Gyurina, Melrose Arts and Cultural Association

Bill Morris - Guitar
Paul Green - Fretless Elictric Bass
Gordon Hill - Electric Violin

NORTH OF BOSTON / MUSIC / AUGUST 30TH./SUNDAY MORNING LIVE

A songstress of lyric-driven pop, Kristen Mercado makes herself at home behind the keys of a piano. Her siren-like voice combined with ethereal melodies and passionate lyrics have left a strong impressions on listeners. Having grown up in Southern Michigan, Kristen combines her folksy Great Lakes sensitivity, acquired from summers spent listening to the waves of Lake Superior, with her own fierce and dynamic personality-conflict (i.e. Anna Nalick, Fiona Apple, etc.). Heart-warming and yearning, she meticulously records the poetic turbulence of her life and emotions in a display of musical abilities that merits the attentions of fans of intelligent pop music. www.myspace.com/kristenmercado

August 23rd - Live Music North of Boston at our Breakfast Buffet by the Sea

Joe Militello is a Cape Ann singer-acoustic guitarist and songwriter who has performed in and around New England for some 30 years. He also plays the piano, sings ballads and some of his own original compositions. Perhaps, most notably, is how Joe delights his audiences with his rendition of some great Beatle love songs.

"Yesterday" is a melancholic acoustic ballad written by Paul McCartney which was voted best song of the 20th. Century in a 1999 BBC Radio Poll.
"Something" was the first song written by George Harrison becoming the second-most covered Beatle's song after "Yesterday".
"This Boy", whose composition was an attempt by John Lennon at writing a song in the style of Motown, was performed live in 1964 for the Beatle's second Ed Sullivan Show. Joe will sing these three songs along with others for Sunday Morning Live at the Seaward Inn on August 23rd.
A well known seasoned musician and performer, Joe Militello also plays in a Boston based 5-piece band known as "The Mockers".
To contact Joe please e-mail jmilit3551@comcast.net or call 978-815-3877.

MUSIC - SUNDAY MORNING LIVE - AUGUST 16TH. - NORTH OF BOSTON

Pete Schoonmaker has been playing guitar in one format or another for more than 30 years. His Mother wanted him to learn the piano but he stood fast and wouldn't play anything but the guitar.
For the past 10 years, Pete has been focusing on folk/acoustic and gospel music.
“I find that's the type of music that really speaks to my musical soul". said Pete. He plays finger- style on 6 and 12-string guitars; set list are usually split evenly between songs and instrumentals.
His repertoire runs from 60's folk-revival back to 19th and 20th century Appalachian and hymn tunes, then up to contemporary singer/songwriter music, including songs of his own. A seasoned performer, Pete plays a variety of venues, from bars ( including the easternmost pub and the easternmost tavern in the United States, both of which are in Lubec, Maine about 100 feet from each other ) to coffeehouses, church services, gospel sings, folk festivals, to anywhere else where acoustic music is appreciated.
A member of a gospel/roots music trio called Green Pastures for many years, Pete has recorded on three CD's with various band members..
" Music is an extremely important part of my life, and there are very few places I would rather be than in front of an appreciative audience".

NORTH OF BOSTON -MUSIC- SUNDAY MORNING LIVE- AUGUST 9TH.

“A truly fresh and unique voice, has to be natural. Even the most modern technology can’t fake it. Hannah and (the) Bloodlines are naturals.” - Alison Hammond, WMVY Radio
From the start “ Hannah & The Bloodlines” have been able to successfully mix experimental with mainstream. Their first single “Nobodies Fault But Mine” aired on independent radio stations throughout the country, and even Europe! They have the improvisational skills of jazz, the hooks of pop, and the raw energy of rock., enabling them to produce an impressive live show that includes intricate jams and melodies not found on the recordings.
“This band makes you feel like your floating, then hits you hard with the energy of the unexpected. They are familiar and yet completely unique at the same time.”
This April the band released their first album “Far From The Tree”. It is sure to be one of the new sounds coming out of New England. With such players as Stephen Gaspar (guitar), who at the young age of 21 has already shared the stage with musical legend John Blackwell (drummer for Justin Timberlake and Prince) and pop icons such as The Click5., Ryan Broderick (drums) who has been playing with blues heroes such as Sam “Bluesman” Taylor in New York since he was in high school. Shaun Munday holds down the low end on bass, helping to give the band a dash of soul. Hannah Sumner inspires most of the melodies and lyrics, and their latest edition Jeremy Vovcsko on saxophone , who has played with legends such as Me’shell Ndegeochello, only propels the musical improvisations deeper during their live performances.
The band has already embraced audiences on television (PlumTV), radio throughout New England, and has been constantly in the top 20 in experimental on ourstage.com, an online radio that fans vote for best song. So keep an ear open to hear the new sound coming out of Boston.

Berklee College of Music student to perform August 2nd at our Breakfast by the Sea

Deborah Pearl is a singer, songwriter, performer and pianist born outside of Boston, Massachusetts in 1990. Her love for music developed at an early age, starting with piano and voice lessons at the age of four.
While performing at a 7th. grade talent show, she was noticed by a Fine Arts Director who was impressed by Deborah's voice and her ability to communicate with the audience. He recommended her to the Handel & Hayden Society for the Vocal Apprenticeship Program. She attended there for six years studying music theory, conducting, choral and solo techniques.

In her early teens she began writing poetry and turning them into songs. Her passion for music and lyricism are always made apparent when she performs on any stage. Deborah is currently attending her second year at Berklee College Of Music, double majoring in Composition and Vocal Performance. She is also in the process of writing new material for her audiences to enjoy. She hopes to spread her talents and personal message with all of her audiences and hopefully be able to give back to her community. You can hear some of her songs on www.myspace.com/deborahpearl ( the real Deborah Pearl ).
