SUNDAY MORNING LIVE SERIES - 2009 Season Finale

Seaward Inn's Sunday Morning Live Series -2009 Season Finale was held on September 27th, with a jam session performed by Lori Diamond, Fred Abatelli, Stuart and Lyn Ferguson and Phil Punch. This was three hours of non stop music at its best! Lori, Fred, Lyn and Stuart were on vocals, piano and guitar while Phil Punch played percussion. The talent and professionalism of these musicians was phenomenal.
Rave reviews are still coming our way calling this one of the best and most entertaining concerts ... "way over the top"!
As a result, we have persuaded Lori Diamond and Fred Abatelli to open our 2010 SUNDAY MORNING LIVE SERIES with a MOTHER'S DAY BRUNCH performance.
Please view our SUNDAY MORNING LIVE SERIES - 2009 video created by Tom Wopperer and Kai Cameron-Gilsey.

Visit our website for updates as we are currently lining up Artists to SHOWCASE THEIR MUSIC for our SUNDAY MORNING LIVE SERIES 2010.

Live Music with Breakfast by the Sea North of Boston

DIANE TARAZ (http://www.dianetaraz.com/) will be performing Sunday Morning Live July 12th. at the Seaward Inn from 9:00 a.m. until Noon.
For over 30 years Diane Taraz has been creating her own songs and breathing new life into traditional ones. Her velvety voice blends beautifully with her elegant guitar arrangements, and she also plays the lap dulcimer, a folk instrument with a lovely antique sound. Several reviewers have compared her vocal powers to those of Joan Baez and Judy Collins, and the Boston Globe writes, "her lovely soprano has a deep shimmer and calm, honest phrasing."

On her half-dozen CDs and in concert, Diane sings her own award-winning songs and puts a unique spin on old favorites such as "Heard It Through the Grapevine" and "Since I Fell For You." Her material stretches from James Taylor classics to Celtic ballads and French and British melodies. Her special love of maritime music fits perfectly with the Seaward Inn's ocean view.

North of Boston Live Music with Breakfast by the Sea

Rick Gottlieb North of Boston Live Music with Breakfast by the Sea

"Rick Gottlieb in concert on May 17th 9 AM to noon, is an acoustic musician, playing guitar for more than 40 years. Last year he released his first CD of original music and traditional favorites entitled, "Nobody's Fool", produced by the well-known artist, Steve Rapson. Rick's voice and music is very reminiscent of James Taylor's style, but he plays in a number of different genres, including Bossa Nova, Contemporary Folk, Traditional, and Great American Songbook Standards. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of his music is that he plays virtually all of his music in the non-standard guitar tuning (Most guitarists play in the standard tuning of EADGBE) of DADGAD, a tuning usually associated with celtic music. Rick has been able to adapt this harp-like tuning to new uses and genres to beautiful effect. His music is sure to be a delight that you won't want to miss in The Sea Garden!"

AWARD WINNING MOVIE FILMED AT THE SEAWARD INN

In October 2008, the directors and producers of The Bait & Tackle Ad Company of Gloucester Massachusetts asked to use the Seaward Inn to film a short "scary movie" to be used in a contest. It was the last day of our season, we didn't really know anything about these people but they promised to be unobtrusive and, it and I figured, "why not"? It seemed like a fun thing to do; after all, we had always thought the Inn had ghosts.

A month or so went by when, lo and behold, we discovered they WON the contest and had been awarded Best Directing and Best Music Score for its film, “Daughter of Dogtown,” in the 2008 National Film Challenge. I think they should have gotton best set design but what do I know.

The National Film Challenge is a timed filmmaking competition from the creators of the 48 Hour Film Project (48hourfilm.com) in which teams have just one weekend to write, shoot, score, and edit a seven-minute short film. Each team is given a genre for its film, and a character, prop and line dialogue that must appear in the movie. This year 300 teams participated in the competition which took place over the weekend of Oct. 24-27, 2008.

Though this marked the team’s first appearance in the National Film Challenge, Bait & Tackle is no newcomer to the contest format, having participated in ten 48 Hour Film Project festivals and similar competitions. Since 2006, the team led by Bait & Tackle President Chad Carlberg has been recognized with the Audience Award (3), a Best-of-Boston and second overall, Best Cinematography (2), Best Visual Effects, Best Set Design, Best Sound Design, Best Costuming (2), and Best Music Score (2).

For more information about Bait & Tackle Ad Company, visit www.baitandtackle.biz, e-mail chad@baitandtackle.biz, or call at 978-283-3140.

"Destination Breakfast" The SEAWARD INN

When Rockport first felt signs of the recession, business people began to cut back, however, We did just the opposite. We diversified and began to increase our spending by launching the Sunday Morning Live Series which offeres live entertainment free for those attending the Inn's Sunday Buffet by the Sea.

Where Our Inn is "off the beaten path" even native Rockporter's were unaware that the Seaward Inn 's beautiful oceanfront dining rooms were open to the public and offer delicious, affordable breakfasts. With great entertainment, lo and behold our dining room has filled with people coming from as far away as Salem, Boston and even Western Massachusetts. The Seaward Inn's Sunday Morning Live has become a beacon for those who love breakfast, great food, entertainment and the splendor of an ocean view at an affordable price.

Our popular "Destination Breakfast";, can be seen as a video tour of the Seaward Inn along with the jazz sounds of the Barbara and Al Boudreau Jazz Trio, frequent performers of our Sunday Morning Live Series.

We invite you to take a step back in time and experience the charm, serenity, of a Sunday Morning Live Breakfast, and the unspoiled beauty that is the Seaward Inn.
