NORTH OF BOSTON * SORRY MUSIC * SEPTEMBER 6th.

"Sorry" is a four member folk rock group who come together for the love of playing music and the enjoyment of each other’s company. The group consists of Allison Scobie lead vocals, Paul Egan drums, Phil Fleisher guitar vocals, Peter Miller guitar vocals and harmonica. The majority of the songs are original compositions with a few selected covers done in the "Sorry" style.
Each member of the band is a professional person with a family. They are two social workers, an architect and a member who is in publishing in the group. Our dreams no longer center on fame or fortune just the opportunity to pursue a creative endeavor outside of our usual roles and responsibilities. For us, the group is a shared space like a sandbox for grown ups where we play with guitars instead of shovels, drums in lieu of pails in order to pursue our own sense of serious fun.
Our name derives simply from the good manners we learned from our parents and teachers. When we practice and someone makes an error the person responsible more often than not murmurs an apology into the microphone. Hence, we became, "Sorry" with the hope being that after hearing our music the listener will be anything but…

A songstress of lyric-driven pop, Kristen Mercado makes herself at home behind the keys of a piano. Her siren-like voice combined with ethereal melodies and passionate lyrics have left a strong impressions on listeners. Having grown up in Southern Michigan, Kristen combines her folksy Great Lakes sensitivity, acquired from summers spent listening to the waves of Lake Superior, with her own fierce and dynamic personality-conflict (i.e. Anna Nalick, Fiona Apple, etc.). Heart-warming and yearning, she meticulously records the poetic turbulence of her life and emotions in a display of musical abilities that merits the attentions of fans of intelligent pop music. www.myspace.com/kristenmercadoLabels: Breakfast, Cape-Ann, live music, New-England, North of Boston, oceanfront accommodations, Rockport-Chamber-of-Commerce, Sunday-Morning-Live

August 23rd - Live Music North of Boston at our Breakfast Buffet by the Sea
Joe Militello is a Cape Ann singer-acoustic guitarist and songwriter who has performed in and around New England for some 30 years. He also plays the piano, sings ballads and some of his own original compositions. Perhaps, most notably, is how Joe delights his audiences with his rendition of some great Beatle love songs. "Yesterday" is a melancholic acoustic ballad written by Paul McCartney which was voted best song of the 20th. Century in a 1999 BBC Radio Poll.
"Something" was the first song written by George Harrison becoming the second-most covered Beatle's song after "Yesterday".
"This Boy", whose composition was an attempt by John Lennon at writing a song in the style of Motown, was performed live in 1964 for the Beatle's second Ed Sullivan Show. Joe will sing these three songs along with others for Sunday Morning Live at the Seaward Inn on August 23rd.
A well known seasoned musician and performer, Joe Militello also plays in a Boston based 5-piece band known as "The Mockers".

Live Music with Breakfast by the Sea North of Boston
For over 30 years Diane Taraz has been creating her own songs and breathing new life into traditional ones. Her velvety voice blends beautifully with her elegant guitar arrangements, and she also plays the lap dulcimer, a folk instrument with a lovely antique sound. Several reviewers have compared her vocal powers to those of Joan Baez and Judy Collins, and the Boston Globe writes, "her lovely soprano has a deep shimmer and calm, honest phrasing."

North of Boston Live Music with Breakfast by the Sea
"Rick Gottlieb in concert on May 17th 9 AM to noon, is an acoustic musician, playing guitar for more than 40 years. Last year he released his first CD of original music and traditional favorites entitled, "Nobody's Fool", produced by the well-known artist, Steve Rapson. Rick's voice and music is very reminiscent of James Taylor's style, but he plays in a number of different genres, including Bossa Nova, Contemporary Folk, Traditional, and Great American Songbook Standards. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of his music is that he plays virtually all of his music in the non-standard guitar tuning (Most guitarists play in the standard tuning of EADGBE) of DADGAD, a tuning usually associated with celtic music. Rick has been able to adapt this harp-like tuning to new uses and genres to beautiful effect. His music is sure to be a delight that you won't want to miss in The Sea Garden!"

Sunday Brunch North of Boston
Without a doubt, Seaward Inn will be this season's ultimate DESTINATION BREAKFAST EXPERIENCE North of Boston.Capitalizing on the most prestigious location in Rockport, phenomenal ocean views, and great Breakfast cuisine, we are now adding a diverse mixture of live music. It just doesn't get much better than this!
Last season, on a "whim", we launched our SUNDAY MORNING LIVE concerts. Despite lean times, it was a huge success. This Season we are picking it up several notches. Instead of only approaching local talent we invited accomplished musicians near and far to SHOWCASE their MUSIC at the Seaward Inn for our Sunday Morning Live Series.
The response was overwhelming!!!
We have had so much talent from which to choose! Most of the musicians are on tour... Some from as far away as California. Many are singer/song writers, acoustic guitarists, composers, jazz, blues, concert pianists, world folk, minstrels, and Celtic folk. We have soloists, quartets, a renaissance duo, as well as acapella pop (the grooviest foursome you've ever had the pleasure of hearing).
As many are giving back during these difficult economic times, we've decided to offer these concerts free of a cover charge during our Sunday Morning Buffet by the Sea.
We will kick off our Sunday Morning Live Series with a MOTHER'S DAY JAZZ BRUNCH featuring the Barbara and Al Boudreau Jazz Trio. Al on drums/vocals with Brabara and Jack Senier, songsmith, on piano. This is Jazz at its best.
Please check our BLOG for upcoming Sunday concerts, photos and background information on these artists.
Reservations are highly recommended as our Sunday Morning Live Series is certain to become the DESTINATION BREAKFAST EXPERIENCE on the North Shore!
