Camera Corner Leica USA Seminar

The Seaward Inn was home to a lively and professionally diverse group of photographers hosted by Camera Corner of Rockport, MA. (Photographs from this seminar can be viewed on the ARTIST PHOTO ALBUM link). As in past years, Carl and Armenne Derderian, organized the seminar in conjunction with Leica USA. Ted Grant, photojournalist, author, and international lecturer, and generally recognized as Canada’s greatest living photographer, was once again “instructor” as he had been for the previous 12 events. ( www.tedgrantphoto.com ) With a past attendee list of several hundred dedicated folks from around the country and Canada, Carl and Armenne, proceeded to fill the Seaward Inn to capacity, overflowing, in fact, to a neighboring Inn. The number of people who could attend was ultimately limited by our dining and lecture space. However, the more intimate setting transformed the “seminar” into what felt more like a Leica “family gathering”. As one might suspect, everyone was officially inducted into the Assorted Artist of Seaward Inn. We are looking forward to their return.

Rockport is a HIDDEN JEWEL and has been a Mecca for artists since first discovered in the late 19th. century when summer artists found the community's charms irresistible. Painters would return home and exhibit their beautiful Rockport scenes in galleries and shows in Boston, New York, Philadelphia and other cities around the country.

Located off the beaten path, we invite you to visit and experience the serenity and unspoiled oceanfront beauty of the Seaward Inn.

If you are into jogging, Blackberry and I would love to take you on an early morning run through the back roads and quarries of Rockport.

Borrow one of our bikes for a tour of the area, or take a leisurely walk to town along a seaside path and enjoy the many art galleries and quaint shops of Bearskin Neck. You might even like to take the train directly into Boston ( only 50 minutes away) to explore the many museums or take in a show. As you can see, there are many possibilities for adventure. Perhaps you would prefer to put your feet up and just relax in the cozy atmosphere of our Inn.

As well please keep in mind this historic ocean side Inn is the perfect setting for small Functions and Weddings, Corporate Meetings, Birthday Parties or Family Reunions.

Please be aware that the Seaward Inn can comfortably accommodate anywhere from two to approximately 50 guests in its SeaGarden Restaurant. Larger functions are open to discussion.

Whatever your pleasure, the staff of the Seaward Inn is eager and waiting to assist you in planning that special event.

It is with great enthusiasm that my family, Peter, Kai, Maya, Blackberry and I welcome you to the Seaward Inn's 64th season.
